From fine dining to an ice cream shop for the masses, James Beard Award-nominated pastry chef Dana Cree has done it all. Having worked at Alinea, Avec and Blackbird, Cree is now coming up on the one year celebration of opening Pretty Cool Ice Cream in Logan Square. In honor of Pride Month this June, the ice cream shop is selling its special Love Is Pretty Cool Pop, featuring a passion fruit shell over a strawberry heart with rainbow sprinkles. Proceeds from sales of the special pops will go to Center on Halsted, the Midwest’s largest LGBTQ+ community center. For this edition of “Food Mondays,” Cree joins Worldview’s food, health and culture contributor Monica Eng to talk — and taste — sweet treats.
